RAP Academy Founder Invited to HMYOI Feltham
RAP Academy founder Dr David Williams has been invited to HMYOI Feltham to deliver a motivational talk as part of its Black History Month programme in October 2026.
The invitation carries particular significance, having followed a personal request from one of the young men for Dr Williams to attend.
The proposed session will draw on lived experience, transformation and the principles that underpin RAP Academy's work with young people affected by violence, exclusion and the criminal justice system.

From the RAP Archive
The work didn't start yesterday.
RAP's organisational history stretches across decades of community engagement, mentoring, creativity and intervention.
The archive preserves selected moments from that journey.
Historical material may appear under RAP Academy®, RAP Mentors®, RAP Records® or Reaching All People — reflecting the names through which different parts of the wider RAP organisational lineage developed over time.
RAP Academy Begins
RAP Academy was established in 1996 as a community-rooted initiative using creativity, mentoring and personal development to engage young people.
The work would develop over the following decades into the wider Reaching All People organisational framework.
RAP Mentors and the Five Borough Alliance
In 2008, RAP Mentors' work gained wider profile following Dr David Williams' appointment as a National Mentor through the Five Borough Alliance.
The alliance brought together Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. Historical documentation records young people being referred for mentoring through the initiative.

RAP Mentors in the Media
During 2008, RAP Mentors' mentoring and youth-engagement work received media attention across radio, print and community publications.
Documented coverage and interviews included Premier Radio, Choice FM, Keep The Faith and The Voice.
The coverage helped bring wider attention to RAP's approach to mentoring, youth violence, exclusion and positive development.
RAP Mentors Referenced in Parliamentary Evidence
RAP Mentors' work appeared within published evidence associated with the House of Commons Home Affairs Committee's examination of young people, gangs and knife crime.
The published material described RAP Mentors' work in London as involving mentoring, life skills and conflict resolution with young people affected by gangs and weapon carrying.

Our Insights platform provides space to examine these issues with professional discipline.
The purpose is not commentary for commentary's sake.
It is to examine what practice teaches, test assumptions and contribute constructively to conversations about intervention, justice, rehabilitation and community safety.
Experience matters.
But experience becomes more useful when it is examined.
RAP Insights reflects professional practice and reflection. It does not constitute academic peer-reviewed research.

Three decades of work deserve an accurate record.
RAP's history spans different eras, programmes, organisational names and areas of practice.
